rheumatoid (felty's)

haemolytic anaemia – sickle cell, thalassemia

malignant
lymphoma

trauma - massive bleeding
hypersplenism
haemolytic anaemia
thrombocytopaenia
spherocytosis

splenectomy precautions
antibiotic prophlaxis – ampicillin (lifelong / all prodecures)
vaccination – pneumococcal, meningococcal, flu
